Dear subscribers, 

The Joint AAL Association / AALIANCE Workshop on Ambient Assisted Living Policy in Europe (co-organised with the European Commission) has been held in Brussels on 25-26 September 2008.

More than 80 representatives from industry, research, academia and funding institutions from Europe and beyond took part and actively contributed to the discussions at the Management Centre Europe in the heart of Brussels. During the two-day event in four working groups related to

    * Older people at home

    * Aging in Society

    * Aging at Work

    * AAL Community building

the neccessary steps to establish a comprehensive vision of the R&D and policy needs for ambient assisted living technologies were discussed and first strategies towards this aim were proposed. Due to the large interest in the workshop it is planned to conduct follow-up events in the near future.
